Do you believe in miracles? Someone says that there are no miracles in the world, but someone only lives in anticipation of magic every day. The story we want to tell you today is hardly a miracle. However, it can definitely be called a pleasant surprise, which was thrown to a person by chance and Mother Nature. It happened to a guy named Simon Curtis, who lives in the USA.
This happened in December 2021. One day Simon decided to eat his favorite salad. He took out a container from the refrigerator, which he bought shortly before, opened the salad, and began to eat. Already towards the end of the meal, he found an intruder - a tree frog.
Usually, people become very nervous with such alive surprises, and one can understand this. After all, it is not known how healthy the amphibian is, how it got into the box, and, most importantly, why did it get there? Does the lettuce manufacturer really have such poor quality control? It is a miracle that the frog, having gone through all the stages of collecting and cleaning the lettuce, remained alive.
However, Simon did not care about all these issues. He was overjoyed at the find! The only thing that worried him at that moment was how to help the green one. After all, it is winter outside, and the thermometer has completely dropped below zero.
After some deliberation, the guy decided to leave the frog with him for a while: until it gets warmer. The new family member was nicknamed Tony. However, it is not known whether it is a female or a male. This nickname still fits the amphibian perfectly. At first, Simon kept Tony right in the box in which he found it, but the frog often ran away from there.
Therefore, Simon organized a small terrarium for the pet. He put small pebbles in there, a piece of wood so that the frog would have somewhere to hide, and he also took care of food and water: a bowl of water, wet lettuce leaves, and a couple of worms from a nearby pet store.
Simon did a great job as a frog dad. Although they got along well, Simon knew that sooner or later the amphibian would have to be released into the wild. He decided to consult with the doctor of biology Jonathan Colby about when and how best to do this
The specialist's verdict surprised Simon. Dr. Colby advised keeping the frog at home. The reason is very simple, although not immediately obvious: there are no tree frogs in the area where Simon lives, and there are no predators that could eat them. The lack of natural control of the number of frogs could lead to the fact that after a relatively short time they could become very numerous. And this would cause big problems for other local animal species, as well as agriculture.
So Simon's house is now home to a frog named Tony. Simon continues to share new photos online - people get excited about the green baby, and Simon's page goes viral.
